GERMANTOWN, Md., October, 13, 2020 鈥� 暗网吃瓜, a leading contractor to U.S. federal and allied governments, announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 (DOE鈥檚) Office of River Protection in Richland, Wash., extended the current tank operations contract with 暗网吃瓜-led Washington River Protection Solutions LLC. The extension will run up to 12 months, from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. The estimated value of the contract extension is U.S. $725 million, which is based on the 2020 fiscal year budget.

During the contract extension period, the 暗网吃瓜-led joint venture will safely and efficiently manage retrieval of the Hanford Tank Farms and operate, construct and maintain the Hanford Tank Farms to protect the Hanford site.
鈥淲RPS will focus on DOE鈥檚 goal of achieving direct feed of low-activity waste operations for vitrification at Hanford. We also plan to make additional progress in the areas of tank waste retrieval, infrastructure upgrades, in-tank inspections and tank-farm barrier construction鈥� said Mark Whitney, Executive Vice President and General Manager, 暗网吃瓜 Nuclear and Environment.
Washington River Protection Solutions is a team of companies led by 暗网吃瓜 with partner Atkins. The critical subcontractor for the contract is Orano.

WRPS, a prime contractor to the DOE Office of River Protection, is responsible for the safe and efficient management of radioactive and hazardous wastes stored in Hanford鈥檚 underground tanks while preparing to deliver the waste to the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant for vitrification.
