At °µÍø³Ô¹Ï, we celebrate our people and our cultures, and we recognize the value of diversity and inclusion. For February, we’ll reflect on what Black History Month means to all of us while shining a light on one employee at a time. °µÍø³Ô¹Ï’s next spotlight is on, Anika Little, Accounts Receivable Manager, Enterprise Project Accounting.
How did you come to join °µÍø³Ô¹Ï?
I joined °µÍø³Ô¹Ï on January 17, 2023, through Cliff Parker & Associates, an external recruiter.
What is your professional and personal background?
I’m originally from Little Rock, AR. I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2002. I relocated to Arlington, Texas in 2005 and that was ultimately one of the best decisions of my life. I’ve now been working in an accounting capacity for the last 18 years. Most of my career was spent within the Oil and Gas industry.
Describe the work you do and how you think it makes a positive impact.
My responsibilities as the Accounts Receivable Manager are to ensure the accurate application of incoming deposits to customer accounts, prepare daily cash received reports, and to help encourage an environment of growth among employees. This work contributes to the overall financial health of °µÍø³Ô¹Ï.
What are some of your accomplishments and/or what has been your proudest career moment?
My proudest career accomplishment since starting with °µÍø³Ô¹Ï is the stellar team I’ve created. Most of our team members were hired by me and they have all done an amazing job. We work well together to ensure the daily cash is applied accurately and efficiently.
What do you enjoy about working for °µÍø³Ô¹Ï?
The people at °µÍø³Ô¹Ï make my job extremely enjoyable. Even though we are working remotely there’s still a sense of camaraderie.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about people. I enjoy mentoring and helping people in any way possible.
What’s your career advice?
You should always be teachable and open to learning new things. You never know where those new lessons can take you.
What does safety mean to you or do you have a favorite safety tip?
My safety tip is centered around cyber security. Always check the actual email address of the sender that’s asking you to process a request. The name may be someone within °µÍø³Ô¹Ï, but if the email address isn’t, it should be reported to IT.
What’s the best invention in the world and why?
Air conditioning is one of the best inventions in the world. Texas summer days tend to get well into the 3 digits. I can’t imagine enduring these hot days without A/C.
Anything else you would like to share from a personal or professional perspective?
My husband & I have 2 sons, ages 11 and 4. I love traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
Considering this monthly observance, tell us more about yourself. Please address one or more of the following questions:
I love traveling and spending time with my family and friends. As a wife and mother, I often put my family’s needs above my own; as most mothers do.
What’s your favorite book?
Year of Yes, by Shonda Rimes is one of my favorite books. It has encouraged me to say Yes to opportunities that I’d ordinarily shy away from. As a wife and mother, I often put my family’s needs above my own; as most mothers do. This book taught me that there’s nothing wrong with taking time for myself to enjoy the things that I like to do. It’s a great read!
Favorite film?
Love and Basketball with Sanaa Latha and Omar Epps is my favorite movie. I’ll choose a love story over action, any day. As you can imagine, my husband and son hate when I pick the movie.
Favorite musician?
R&B is my favorite genre, and I literally could listen to H.E.R. all day.
