Employee Spotlight: Meet Cecelia Jackson

In February, we’ll focus on Black History Month (BHM). Our BHM series closes out the month with this Q&A of Cecelia Jackson, HR Manager, Mission Readiness.

How did you come to join °µÍø³Ô¹Ï?

I originally started with legacy LSI working at Red River Army Depot located in Texarkana, Texas. I’ve been with the company approximately 15 ½ years.

What is your professional and personal background?

I am a human resources manager. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in computer science from Kentucky State University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). I obtained my Master’s in Education in adult education with a concentration in human resources development from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Describe the work you do and how you think it makes a positive impact.

I provide global HR support to more than 50 work locations around the world. I believe my role as a HR manager positively impacts the most valuable asset, our employees. My position affords me the opportunity to be a conduit for information by connecting employees with the right resources. It’s no secret that our employees are the catalyst who give us the advantage over our competitors and who excel at meeting our customers’ expectation. Therefore, I strive to ensure employees are taken care of.

What are some of your accomplishments and/or what has been your proudest career moment?

During my career with the company, I have received a few recognitions and awards. But my proudest career moment(s) have involved mentoring/coaching youth in my community in the areas of interviewing, resume writing, dress attire and communication.

What do you enjoy about working for °µÍø³Ô¹Ï?

I work remotely. So I enjoy traveling and meeting employees in person. This provides me with an opportunity to learn about the various programs I support and the kind of work our employees do.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about learning and sharing what I know with others. Especially, when I can streamline our processes.

What’s your career advice?

Learn while serving.

What does safety mean to you, or do you have a favorite safety tip?

Safety is a behavior that should not only be practiced at work but in everything we do.

What’s the best invention in the world and why?

Computer technology is the best invention. It has evolved and improved ways we communicate and conduct business world-wide. Each person has benefited from computer technology in some way — at home or at work.

What does Black History Month mean to Cecelia Jackson?

Black history is American history. It’s an opportunity to show homage through recognition of those who have contributed not only to the advancement of African Americans but to all mankind. This month is a glimpse of our ancestral contributions, affording every person the opportunity to embark upon the journey of making our world a safer and better place to live.
