Employee Spotlight: Meet Jasmine Norris

In February, we’ll focus on Black History Month (BHM). The next spotlight is this Q&A with Jasmine Norris, HR Manager, IS4.

How did you come to join °µÍø³Ô¹Ï?

I initially joined via URS, which was a legacy group to °µÍø³Ô¹Ï 11 years ago. I initially heard about this group from a recruiter regarding an HR opportunity in the Columbia, Md. office.

What is your professional and personal background?

I have been in HR for over 20 years supporting small and large companies with my experience in HR and recruiting.

Describe the work you do and how you think it makes a positive impact.

As a human resources manager, I am able to directly support and motivate employees to work at their highest level.  Along, with supporting operations with their mission.

What are some of your accomplishments and/or what has been your proudest career moment?

  • Successfully transitioned over 2000 employees from old contracts to our company.
  • Athlon Award for Excellence.
  • Devised creative and cost-effective incentive and morale-boosting that increased employee satisfaction and productivity.

What do you enjoy about working for °µÍø³Ô¹Ï?

I enjoy being able to support programs with diverse requirements that allow me to tap into different skillsets.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about employees, having effective communication, and looking at ways to be strategic with the groups I support.

What’s your career advice?

You can always better your best!

What does safety mean to you, or do you have a favorite safety tip?

Safety is an extremely important part of our daily lives. Safety isn’t limited to physical but also a general sense of wellness.

What’s the best invention in the world and why?

The three-light traffic signal, invented by Garrett Morgan in 1923. With the invention of the three-light traffic signal, it allows us to get to our destination safely. Initially there were only two lights, He simply added the yellow light to signal for us to slow down.

What does Black History Month mean to Jasmine Norris?

Black History Month is a reminder that people who look like me have significantly impacted the world. It encourages me to be resilient and make my mark in the world.  In addition, to thinking what this world would be if it wasn’t for the contributions of African Americans.  As I got older it became more important for me to know where I came from and to understand the true meaning of ancestors and history. I refuse to walk around just accepting what the world says I am.

Anything else you would like to share from a personal or professional perspective?

Knowing that I was put in this world to make an impact to those I meet. Every time you touch a life you can change a life.
