Engineering Management, Licensing & Commissioning
As majority partner responsible for the management and operation of the Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) in the UK, °µÍø³Ô¹Ï resolved an urgent need to expand waste disposal capacity, avoiding delays to UK’s decommissioning activity.
Sourcing an alternative LLWR site would have been a lengthy process with an expected cost of over £2 billion.
°µÍø³Ô¹Ï’s strategy involved fostering a collaborative approach with the customer and regulator, ultimately delivering upgrades to existing facilities and construction of an additional vault to extend the facilities operational life by 100 years.
In addition °µÍø³Ô¹Ï provided an additional 10 waste disposal and treatment routes, which avoided a further £455m in disposal costs.
